Our History

Pontchartrain Beagle Club started out as a brace trial club and was the first beagle club within 200 miles of New Orleans La.

In 1982 PBC held the first small pack trial with gundogs judges, also the first derby trial PBC held had a total of 93 hounds the largest in the history of the DSBGF at the time. PBC has hosted many championship trials along with helping other clubs out in the area. In 1990 PBC hosted a money trial with beaglers coming from all over the country. PBC was the first club to hold 2-license trial a year small pack and small pack option.

      PBC has recently joined the United Beagle Gundog Federation and will be holding the first UBGF, DSBGF, SSA derby trial in the south.

      PBC is a member of the Deep South Beagle Gundog Federation, Southern States Association the United Beagle Gundog Federation.

      PBC moved to Holden La. In 1986 and had over 200 plus dogs entered in trials for the next 5 years.

      Running ground were good with plenty of rabbits, as time would have it trees grew and the timber company clear cut the lease leaving PBC to find new grounds to hold trials. Moving from place to place to hold a trial with other beagle clubs helping out allowing PBC to hold their trials.

      PBC member Mike Wild stepped up and purchased land in Albany La. Mike has built a great facility for PBC to hold trials and enjoy some great times together. Super nice club house plenty of room for beaglers to set around and talk dogs. With 3 running pens a 30 acres, 24 acre and a 12-acre pen with plenty of rabbits. The judging is easy, good cover and the rabbits really get up and run. The location is easy access from interstate I-12 and I-55 with several Hotels 12 – 15 miles away.
